Clean Air Day celebrations with new air quality resources and a Garden Party
On Thursday 18th June we celebrated Clean Air Day by bringing together our community for a Sustains Us Garden Party. We enjoyed an afternoon and evening of live music, food, activities and conversations focused on greener living and improving local air quality. The Garden Party also marked the launch of our new clean air resources for local residents and businesses.
Supporting our local cultural venues to adapt to rising heat
As part of London Climate Action Week 2026 and amidst three consecutive days of record-breaking June temperatures we co-hosted Climate x Culture x Councils: Shaping Heat Resilience. The half-day workshop explored how policy makers and cultural venues in our communities can work together to respond to climate change and increasingly hot summers.
Local partners come together to demystify low carbon heating during London Climate Action Week
To mark London Climate Action Week, London South Bank University and South Bank and Waterloo Sustains Us came together to host ‘Inside the Infinite Shed: Heat Pumps Explained’. This was an open event inviting the local community to explore LSBU’s innovative Infinite Shed and learn how heat pumps work in practice.
Creating our Green Infrastructure Strategy
We are pleased to share that work is underway on a Green Infrastructure Delivery and Investment Strategy for South Bank and Waterloo. The strategy will identify opportunities to enhance green infrastructure in our local area and set out cost-effective and impactful actions we can take.
Coming together to reimagine the river Thames
On Thursday 21st May we were delighted to gather our local community in Reimagining the River. In partnership with St Johns, Thames Estuary Partnership and the Environment Agency, we brought together 70 local residents, landowners, organisations, businesses and statutory bodies.
