Celebrating nature and community at Garden Museum’s annual Neighbours Day

News   |   Sep 2025

Nearly 500 local residents came together in July at the Garden Museum for its annual Neighbours Day – a celebration of community, creativity, and shared green space.

Inspired by the Museum’s Cecil Beaton exhibition, this year’s ‘Garden Party’ theme brought people together through activities that encouraged learning, connection, and time in nature. Inside, neighbours enjoyed bath salt making, flower arranging, and even exploring the science of strawberry DNA. Outside in Old Paradise Gardens, they planted nasturtiums, joined guided walks of local fruit trees, and took part in calming breathwork workshops in the shade.

The day ended with music from the Lambeth Wind Orchestra and free cake – a reminder of how shared spaces and experiences can strengthen community life and create a more connected, greener neighbourhood for all.

The Garden Museum is a neighbourhood leader in urban greening, spearheading projects such as the ambitious transformation of underused land in Lambeth Green into climate-resilient spaces. Learn more about the Garden Museum and its Lambeth Green project here.
